Sharing traces¶
Find the trace¶
List your stored traces, newest first, with kolo trace list (the 500 most recent by default, change it with --count):
$ kolo trace list
200 POST /poll/command/poll/ (2m ago, 321.1 KB, trc_01JPMVDAE8TA7N06JHJ809K2PE)
doubling (5m ago, 1.2 KB, trc_01M4HRAP3DSXV0HW84XKK3Q0VV)
__main__.<module> (+6 calls) (22m ago, 4.7 KB, trc_01M4HR7MK9V4T98S70Y46HW3XZ)
Share a trace as text¶
Traces are plain text once emitted, so you can share one like any other file.
To get a trace as a single markdown file, for a pull request, an issue or a diff against another trace:
kolo trace flat trc_01M4HR7MK9V4T98S70Y46HW3XZ > trace.md
To write the full directory of trace files somewhere other than .kolo/traces/:
kolo trace emit trc_01M4HR7MK9V4T98S70Y46HW3XZ --output-dir shared-traces/
Upload and download a trace¶
To share a trace through Kolo’s servers, upload it:
kolo trace upload trc_01M4HR7MK9V4T98S70Y46HW3XZ
A teammate can then download it:
kolo trace download trc_01M4HR7MK9V4T98S70Y46HW3XZ
It then shows up in their kolo trace list.
